STEO is changing school bus pickup and drop off schedules for September 2020 for schools in the regions of Leeds, Grenville, Dundas, Prescott and Russell. Mother Teresa will be affected by these changes for September 2020. Unified bell times are being phased in over a three-year period for both CDSBEO and UCDSB, and have been successfully implemented in all Lanark area schools this year.
The new elementary school start times will range from 9:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and all high schools will begin their school day at 8:00 a.m.
Parents will receive more information as it becomes available. For additional details please visit www.steo.ca/belltimechanges.
Our Welcome to Kindergarten session for our new Junior Kindergarten students beginning in September 2020 will take place on Thursday, May 21st (time to be determined). This session is for students who have completed the registration process and have submitted all required documentation to the school. Parents and students are invited to take part in a play-based session where students can interact with the Kindergarten team and future classmates. It is a fun event and we hope to see all of our new friends there!
For information on registration, please see the previous post on this website, or visit www.cdsbeo.on.ca. You may also call the school office at 613-445-3788 and we would be happy to answer any questions!
The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA) provided notice that their members will escalate strike action to a full one-day withdrawal of services on Thursday, March 5, 2020.
OECTA represents more than 857 teachers or 59 per cent of the CDSBEO workforce. Safety of students is our greatest priority and due to the full withdrawal of classroom teaching services, the Board is not able to ensure adequate student safety and well-being, therefore, all CDSBEO schools will be closed to students on Thursday, March 5, 2020.
We would encourage parents and guardians to have alternate childcare plans in place for Thursday, March 5, 2020. Parents who have children that attend childcare and/or before and after school care programs in CDSBEO facilities should contact their individual provider for details on childcare operations during the strike.
This labour disruption arises out of the current central negotiations process involving the Government of Ontario, the Council of Trustees’ Association (which includes the Association representing Catholic school boards – the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association), and OECTA. Please note that the CDSBEO does not control decisions regarding provincial strike action.
The decision to close schools to students is complex and is made with careful consideration. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.
Details and updates of the strike situation will be posted regularly through social media and on our website at www.cdsbeo.on.ca/oecta.
Please keep our students, staff and families in your prayers as we move forward in these challenging times.
Please note: The Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation, OSSTF, has served notice of strike action outlining a full withdrawal of services in the form of a one-day walkout on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at selected schools and school boards including the Upper Canada District School Board. Please be aware this walkout does not affect or involve teachers at the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario. CDSBEO teachers are represented by OECTA and all CDSBEO schools will be open on Wednesday, January 15.
The Mother Teresa Catholic School Open House took place on January 15th. No need to worry though……we are still taking registrations on an ongoing basis!
Online registration is open at www.cdsbeo.on.ca .
For more information please do not hesitate to call our school office at 613-445-3788!
Do you have everything to register?
THE FIRST STEP:
The first step in registering for Mother Teresa Catholic School is to go online to the CDSBEO website to register at www.cdsbeo.on.ca. Please do not print the registration form, rather complete it directly online for our school to have full access to it.
ONCE YOU HAVE REGISTERED ONLINE:
The following items need to be brought into the main office in order to proceed with the registration:
⃝ Child’s Birth Certificate
⃝ Child’s Baptismal Certificate OR if your child is not baptized Roman Catholic, a completed “Request for Non-Catholic Admission” Form must be submitted along with a letter addressed to Mrs. Norma McDonald, our Superintendent, outlining why you would like your child to be registered at our Catholic school
⃝ A recent phone/hydro or gas bill with parent’s name and current address on it (this is to ensure your child lives within our school boundary)
⃝ If applicable, we require a copy of any custody agreement in place
⃝ If applicable, a completed medical information form (if your child has allergies, or medical condition that we need to be aware of)
While we do not require your child’s immunization records, it is very important that your child’s records are up to date with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit prior to starting school.

We look forward to welcoming you to our MTCS Family!

Mother Teresa Parent/Teacher Interviews
Thursday November 28th, 2019
New ONLINE Booking Procedure for Interviews
Your child’s School Progress Report Card (Gr. 1-6) will be sent home on Monday November 25th, 2019.
Mother Teresa Catholic School will be hosting Parent/Teacher Interviews on Thursday, November 28th from 2:30pm to 8:00pm. We will be piloting a new online booking system this year through Microsoft Bookings. Many of our teachers will conduct interviews together as they teach the same students throughout the day. For teachers who have more than one teaching partner, parents are invited to book 1 time slot only with your child’s English teacher. French teachers have their own booking links if you wish to meet with them as well. If you are unable to book a time during the parent/teacher interview night, a phone call or alternate time can be arranged directly with the teacher. The time slots are available on a first come, first served basis so we suggest you book early to ensure a spot. As well, if you have more than one child in our school, the earlier you book your time, the more likely you can book appointments close together.
ALL INTERVIEWS ARE 10 MINUTES IN LENGTH. Please arrive early for your scheduled time to ensure your interview is not cut short. We appreciate your assistance in keeping to our schedule. If you are booking interviews with multiple teachers, please leave 10 minutes between to allow for you to travel to the next classroom.

Milk and Pizza starts next week October 14. Pizza is on Wednesdays and milk is available all week.
Our next Catholic School Council Meeting is on Wednesday April 1st at 6:30 in the library. Membership on the council is open to any parent of a child registered at Mother Teresa. Any parent of a child registered may attend the meeting.
This month, parents and guardians will receive their child’s Individual Student Report (ISR). This report contains their child’s results from the Assessments of Reading, Writing and Mathematics, Primary and Junior Divisions, administered in spring 2019. These results did not impact students’ report cards last year.
EQAO results offer an independent snapshot that shows whether students are meeting literacy and math expectations from The Ontario Curriculum. In receiving the ISR, there is an opportunity for parents and guardians to have discussions about their child’s achievement within their family or with a teacher (e.g., parent/guardian-teacher interview).
EQAO data should be considered alongside other information—such as in-class assessment results, report-card grades and teacher observations—so parents and guardians can build a fuller understanding of their child’s learning.
Parents and guardians can learn more about assessment results through EQAO’s website (www.eqao.com) or by clicking the following links:

Our supplier has had difficulty fulfilling our order, along with other schools. The school board has secured a new supplier for our agendas and we were told we could expect them to arrive in the next two to three weeks. Thank you for your patience.
