For Parents

Important Information!

Daily Attendance

If your child will be late or absent from school at any time, it is the parent's responsibility to notify the school office via School Messenger or by calling the school at 613-445-3788. Please do not email the school to verify absences. If voice mail picks up, please leave a detailed message with your child's name, grade and teacher, as well as the reason for their absence.  This is very important to ensure the safety of every student every day.  Messages are picked up first thing in the morning and throughout the day.  If you have not informed us of your child's absence, we will call every number on file until your child's absence is verified (including emergency contacts if necessary).

Daily Drop-Off and Pick-Up

If your child is late, they must be signed in by a parent at the school's main/front entrance.  This ensures that the office is aware that your child has arrived.  Likewise, if you need to pick your child up during the school day, we ask that you call to inform the office ahead of time.  This ensures that your child can be ready as quickly as possible once you arrive.  You will need to sign them out at the office before leaving.  If your child normally rides a bus, but you would like to pick him/her up early from school instead on any given day, please notify the school no later than 2:30 pm so we can notify the classroom.  If someone other than a parent will be picking up your child, you MUST inform the office.  We will not allow your child to leave with anyone else without advanced notification from the parent, and proper identification will be required.

School Lunches

Your child should come to school with plenty of healthy PEANUT FREE and TREE NUT FREE snacks and a substantial lunch for the day. WE DO NOT ALLOW NUTELLA OR WOW BUTTER IN THE CLASSROOMS.  We ask that you please double-check any snacks that you send as we have many children with severe, life-threatening allergies. We are not able to refrigerate or heat up lunches so please send a lunch that is fully prepared and ready to go, including cutlery. We will always assist in opening containers if necessary, but please continue to practice at home. We appreciate your help as we try to keep everyone safe.

Transportation

If you have opted for busing, you will be contacted directly by the bus driver with your child’s pick-up and drop-off information a day or two before school begins. If there are any changes to your child’s pick up or drop off address, please notify the school office as soon as possible at 613-445-3788. Please leave a detailed message if no one is available to answer your call personally. Once we have changed the address in our system, it can take up to 10 business days for your child’s route to be updated by STEO – Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario. We have four different bus companies that service Mother Teresa.  Please note that STEO provides transportation to one address per student, with the only exception being split families (for which special forms are required yearly and can be found on the www.STEO.ca website).
